Prostate Cancer: Causes & Diagnosis
Prostate cancer is the second-most common cause of cancer-related death amongst Australian men. Despite this statistic, prostate cancer is not always life-threatening – particularly for men over the age of 70, and those with low risk disease, many die with the disease rather than because of it. On the other hand, for those younger men with rapidly growing prostate cancer, the disease may be highly fatal.
What is the prostate? The prostate is the gland responsible for the production of some of the fluid that makes up semen. It’s about the size of a walnut, and is located just below the bladder.
